Lydia Fraser-Ward is a freelance producer, choreographer and theatre practitioner specialising in creating live performances in unusual spaces.
As a choreographer Lydia creates radical and risky new dance works which combine physical theatre with Contemporary dance techniques. She is motivated to play with the beauty and absurdity of everyday movement, making strange things familiar and familiar thing strange.
As a creative producer, Lydia works with companies across theatre, dance, puppetry, circus and film who want to explore new methods of audience interaction in public space. She enjoys the challenge of working in outdoor and unconventional spaces, creating events which are not only site-specific, but site-responsive, driven by her firm belief and passion that live performance can, and should, take place anywhere.
In 2012 Lydia was awarded the Gabriela Tudor Fellowship for leading Dance Managers in Europe by E-Motional Cities & Bodies. She is currently a resident Artist at Old Diorama Arts Centre, Creative Entrepreneur in Residence at King's College London and a Fellow of the RSA.
